We had a quiet weekend. It would have been nice to get out of the heat, but everyone else had the same idea. We decided to stay put and plan a trip in the wood for another time soon.
We had more work installed in the kitchen this weekend, although it is not yet completely done. We now have the L-shaped counter top in place, along with two more of the floating shelves. The tile back splash will be installed in about a week. How long we will need to wait for the island counter is a mystery….
The kids and I explored one of the washes near our house. We looked for fairy houses, animal tracks, and mica. (Well, these are kids of a geologist! Of course they know about mica!)
We went to the movies at the mall. SO. MANY. PEOPLE. Too many really, but we managed to make our way to the theaters. We saw How to Train your Dragon 2. It was Gabe’s first movie at the theater, and he did really well. He got wiggly at the last 15 minutes, but did great. The movie was fantastic!
We swam in our generous neighbor’s pool a few times. This was a lifesaver. The heat was intense this weekend. We hosted a quiet BBQ last night with friends. The kids played in the dog pool and made muddy messes everywhere. It was great to see them enjoying themselves. Not so great for the garden area, but it’s an easy fix.
My mom surprised us on Monday by bringing Lucy home. The kids were SO excited to see their dog. She’s curled up at my feet right now. I don’t think she’ll let any of us out of her sight for a while. Two months is a long time to be away from your dog!
I’ve been sick for a couple of weeks now, and finally went to the doctor. Turns out I have a massive sinus infection, which is causing major breathing issues in my chest. One hundred dollars spent at the pharmacy later, I’m hoping things will clear up soon. It’s been a bit miserable trying to work (yup, back at my real job!), and take of things at home. Here’s hoping modern medicine kicks in soon!
Hope your weekend was fun!
