My garden has been growing like crazy! A few weekends ago, we had two days of glorious rain. Gentle, soaking rains. Everything is now green, and growing. My veggie beds are doing great, and the seeds planted months ago are finally starting to emerge and shoot four inches tall overnight!
The irrigation has been installed to the strawberry and asparagus patch, but not finished just get. A trench needs to be extended over to the sunken garden and that irrigation line needs to be connected to the patch before the water can be turned on.
The sunken garden has a pixie mandarin planted in the center, with lavender and rosemary around the edges. More lavender and some thyme will soon be added. I unloaded one ton of small river rock in the sunken garden and the fig basin. I only need to add some more of the larger rocks to outline the area. And add irrigation. Let’s not forget that!
The fig tree Jon gave me for Valentine’s Day was planted just before those gentle rains came, and now is leafing out. Thyme, lavender, and rosemary have also been planted in that basin.
The kids and I hunt for fairies each day before leaving for school. They do love to find new hiding spots, those fairies!
Grampy has been visiting us from Boston. He and the kids have really enjoyed digging in the yard. Luckily, I directly them dig in the spot where I actually need a trench dug – all around the pond for our next basin! Once this area has been dug, then we can plant!
