a day trip to the city

The kids loved riding on the train. We walked through the Boston Commons to the Public Garden to ride the Swan Boats. A pedal-powered Swan Boat ride around the lagoon was just what we needed! We walked along Newbury Street, window shopping until we saw the cupcake shop – Georgetown Cupcake. Then, suddenly, Sophia was starving. We just had to try their delightful treats! I really liked the lemon cupcake…

We took another ride on the T to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Lovely buildings, with lots of religious art. Gabe slept the entire time. I had thought the ground would be more available for visiting, but some new areas where works in progress.

We hopped back on the T and headed to Faneuil Hall, looking for a late lunch. While we didn’t find anything that looked kid-friendly in the Marketplace, we stumbled over to the Black Rose – an Irish Pub. Definitely kid-friendly and cold beers? Yes please! The ride back on the T was crowded and hot, but there were some kind folks who let me and the kids have a seat. I think the kids really enjoyed their first visit into Boston!
