Jon had some time off from collaborating with his colleagues. We decided to go wine tasting with the kids. We had done this before, so we knew it could work. We visited Sweet Cheeks, Silvan Ridge, and Noble Estates, just south of Eugene. After a rough start to the morning, we were off!
Sweet Cheeks had complementary and fee-based ($2 wine tastings). It was a lovely place to have lunch and sit aorund the fire bowl when the grey skies proved too chilly for us!
Silvan Ridge also had complementary wine tastings and the gal couldn’t have been friendlier! Sophia continued her good behavior with her movie watching!
At Noble Estates, they were bottling 2010 Syrah. We had a nice time tasting, even if the natives were getting restless!
It was such a fun day and we have many more wineries to check out! It was interesting to note that only Noble Estate grew their own grapes in the Willamette (rhymes with G@d DAM# it) Valley. All other wineries grey some grapes, but most of their grapes were from further south, especially for pinot noir or cabernet sauvignon blends.
