My niece Sedona has a birthday coming up in a few weeks. For those of you who do not know Sedona, she is a princess nut. She loves anything and everything princess-related. I think she has something like 5 princess crowns – because you can never have too many crowns after all.
So, naturally, I decided to make her a princess cape. For those times when you just don’t feel like being bothered to put on your full princess gown and tiara, you can put on your princess cape and let your subjects know who you are – a princess!
I used the pattern from Prudent Baby and make a few modifications. I made the cape length 14 inches – and I’m glad I did because on my model (Sophia), the capelet not as long as I had hoped it would be. I also wonder if there is a way to size up the collar, because I ended up having to make a few pleats to make the collar fit to the top of the cape.
Mr. Bear had a chance to wear the cape, because he doesn’t move as much when Momma is trying to take a photo. The cape sure is cute! I used fabric from Heather Ross‘ Far Far Away collection – Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel – perfect for a princess-crazy little girl. The cape is reversible too!
