Since the week we instituted the only one feeding at night, things went fairly well.  Until this weekend, when Sophia was up constantly.  I think was mostly due to a molar coming in.  But when she began to fall back asleep during her  bottle…that’s a problem.  Add that to her new wake up time of six am…well, I decided it was time to implement phase two of the new sleep regime.

Phase two means no feeding during the  night.  As the pediatrician said, she doesn’t need it. And she needs to eat during the day.  So, last night was the first night with no bottles.

And it sucked big time. Maybe it was mostly that molar again, but man, it seemed like Sophia was crying every half hour or hour.  I’d just fall back asleep and she’s cry again.  Most of the time it was short – one minute or just a couple of minutes.  A couple of times it was longer…but she’s eventually go back to sleep after about ten minutes. She had pain medicine for the tooth.  But right around 3 am – she was pissed that there was no bottle forthcoming. She finally went back to sleep, only to be wide awake at 6 am again.

So we got up and went for a walk in the chill of the morning, which was delicious is its own right.  Except for it being six am of course.

Well, she made it one night with no bottle.  That’s something.

In the spirit of changes, we’re working eating only at the table (no walking around with the snack trap full of crackers or signing for & getting milk nonstop).  Otherwise Sophia won’t eat much of her food at meal times.

I think it’s working.  At least, it seems to be.  She still doesn’t always eat much at meal time, like breakfast or dinner, but we do sit down for healthy snacks throughout the day. I’m not sure why there is this big change, she sometimes refuses to eat her favorite foods…maybe we’re offering her too much milk? Who knows?

Lest you think it’s complaints all the time around here, we did have a lovely relaxing weekend.  It’s finally cool enough to have the doors and windows open all day long.  We hung out on the porch most of the weekend.  Quite lovely.  We’re just looking for a bit more sleep.
